The Dr. Kumar Show is the first and only health show on the radio in Central Texas that is locally produced and broadcast. The mission of the show is to educate the community on health related issues. We try to strip away the medical jargon and reveal simple concepts that are comprehensible and applicable.
Guests and sponsors are chosen because of their expertise in a given subject area, and because they have the ability to communicate ideas both to medical professionals and to the public.
Dr. Kumar attended undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He completed his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX in 1991. He stayed at that institution to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital and the Dallas VA Hospital. Dr. Kumar trained in gastroenterology at UC San Diego Medical Center and finished in 1998. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He spent several years in practice in Hawaii before returning home to Texas in 2002. He has practiced in Austin since that time and joined Austin Gastroenterology in 2004.
